Bulk Create Google Workspace Org Units with GW Manager

Welcome to GW Manager. In this video, I will show you how to create multiple organizational units in Google Workspace, right from your Google Sheet.

If I go to my Google Workspace admin console and do a quick refresh, you will see that I only have GW Manager as my root organizational unit.

I will insert 10 organizational units in it.

For that, I will go back to my sheet, click on extensions and I should see GW Manager.

If you need more help with installation, please watch our getting started video on the documentation page here.

I will click on launch, once the add-on is launched, we will need to create organizational unit sheet.

We have two options for that, either we can click on manage utilities and then click on insert all sheets, so that all the sheets for all the functions will be inserted at once into our Google sheet right here.

For now, I just need to create organizational units, so I will go to manage org units.

GW Manager will recognize that the sheet is not yet available in this Google sheet, and it will ask me to create org units sheets.

I will have the insert sheet selected and click on execute.

Now, add on has inserted a create organizational unit sheet and asked me to provide some information which is marked by this asterisk , which means this set of information is required.

I've prepared some information, so I will just copy it from here, come back to my sheet and paste it here.

I'm providing the organizational unit name, its parent organizational unit.

These five organizational units will be created first under the root organizational unit, and then I'm inserting these five organizational units, under these newly created ones, I'm also providing the description.

Parent policy inheritance can take either true or false, if you do not provide any value here, true is the default.

True means this organizational unit will inherit policies from its parent.

If you put false, then this organizational unit will not inherit policies from its parent.

Before I create organizational units, you will notice that I intentionally left this one to not exist, so this will error out, and our add-on should provide you with context on why this specific organizational unit didn't get created.

Once I have the information in place, I will click on create organizational unit and then click on execute

GW Manager at this time will start creating these organizational units inside Google Workspace and soon it will let us know the status.

And it tells us that all the organizational units are created except this one, which was supposed to error out.

And it also provides us context under the status context column, which says Invalid parent organizational unit, because this organizational unit does not actually exist.

So now when we go to our Google Workspace admin console, under the organizational unit and do a quick refresh, we should see all the organizational units that we created, including their description.

It also created child organizational units as we provided in our sheet.

This is how you can quickly create organizational units in bulk with GW Manager.

GW Manager also has a bunch of other features, so stay tuned for more videos or visit our website gw manager.com for more information.
